Warehouse Shift Manager Afternoon shift
 
Hours of Work:  40 hours per week - 13:30 – 22:00
Days of Work: Monday – Friday
Location: Denton
Salary: £30k pa
 
About the role
 
Due to our exciting expansion plans, Our client are recruiting for a Warehouse Shift Manager to manage the afternoon/evening shifts.
 
Reporting to the Operations Manager, the Warehouse Shift Manager has direct responsibility and accountability for the Warehouse operation.
Alongside the other Warehouse Shift Managers, you will be responsible for ensuring the success of the 24-hour operation within the Warehouse and will be a key member of the management team, providing hands on leadership to the Operations team.
Key Tasks:

  • Leadership and development of all Warehouse Operatives and Warehouse Team Leaders
  • Ensuring costs are controlled effectively, whilst delivering a high level of customer service
  • Day to day management of the main Warehouse and Transport operation
  • Conduct performance reviews and provide appropriate feedback/training and support to team members
  • Deliver daily team meetings and report to senior management on key issues via various delivery methods including daily huddle; formal meetings etc
  • Work closely with other Shift Managers ensuring a comprehensive shift hand-over is completed every day
  • Deal with first line people management issues timely and appropriately
  • To ensure the warehouse is capable of delivering the volume requirements of the business in a fast and efficient way whilst ensuring customer service requirements are met; measured by KPIs and internal SLAs
  • Maintain a high standard of cleanliness and security across site operations
  • Drive continuous improvement within the Warehouse
  • Responsible for achieving targets as set by the Assistant Operations Manager
  • Responsible for daily performance, ensuring all Team Leaders are achieving KPIs and managing operational resource correctly
  • Control labour requirements, flexing with agency staff when required.
  • Develop a highly motivated group of Supervisors and warehouse colleagues using the talent review matrix and appraisal process in place
  • Deal with HR related issues i.e. disciplinaries, grievances etc
  • Implement colleague training where necessary and keep training records up to date
  • Oversee the process for the timely picking, packing and despatching of orders from the Trays and the Carrier areas
  • Ensure all orders are checked prior to despatch and are collated correctly
  • Carryout Supervisor checks on orders as and when required
  • Dealing with Driver related queries and issues, liaising with relevant departments as appropriate
  • Responsible for the maintenance, upkeep and record keeping of the company’s commercial fleet
  • Ensure all relevant documentation is processed with orders being despatched
  • Ensure all direct reports complete their tasks to the highest standard and that they are managed from a performance point of view
  • Work to deadlines and meet KPIs as set out by the Assistant Operations Manager
  • Adhere to Health and Safety regulations, ensuring that all staff are complying to the relevant H & S protocol and SSOW
  • Carryout formal investigations as and when required, in-line with the company’s disciplinary procedure.
  • General warehouse duties when required (including picking/packing loading/QC/P.I./Goods-In work).

 
Candidate specification:

 

  • Experience of working within an SME warehouse facility
  • Previous supervision within a fast-paced operations environment
  • A minimum of 1 year managing staff at all levels up to and including Team Leaders
  • L.M. qualifications an advantage
  • MHE licence holder an advantage
  • Good PC skills including MS Excel and Word
  • Lean/5S knowledge and experience an advantage
  • Experience of working with various WMS an advantage

 
Work experience/Educational requirements:
Essential:
